Thanks Warner Bros
In case you didn’t know Spike Jonze is currently making trying to make a film adaptation of “Where the Wild Things Are.” For those who don’t know about the film sorry should have told you sooner. For those who don’t know about the book…for shame.
So anyway apparently when word reached ‘the suits’ over at Warner Bros. that a free-thinking creative individual was in the process of making a unique film with a quirky charm based off of book with the same appeal they weren’t too pleased.
Yet I’m hearing that just such a massive reshoot is what is on the table right now. And it’s not because of technical issues, unless you want to consider the lead kid actor and the script technical issues. Sources tell me that the suits at Legendary and Warner Bros are not happy with Max Records, the actor playing Max, the mischievous boy who is crowned King of the Wild Things. Worse than that, they don’t like the film’s tone and want to go back to the script drawing board, possibly losing the Spike Jonze/Dave Eggers script when they do it. Apparently the film is too weird and ‘too scary,’ and the character of Max is being seen as not likable

Why? I mean really, why? Are studios afraid to let an audience think and be capivated by a film? Or is it that audiences don’t want to have a connection to a film and the studios know this?
Fuck it. I give up. I hope they just fire Jonze; scrap whatever he had put together, then hire some jackass like Bay or Ratner. Then they can cast Will Smith’s kid, Janna, Jammin, Jada, Jaydun, or whatever-hell that kid’s name is, and have him deliver lines like “What’s your name? Harry” Hahahaha I can’t wait.

Wow, Dave Eggers co-wrote the script? That guy’s pretty awesome. I suggest reading “A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius” if you haven’t already or just picking up a copy of The Believer magazine to see for yourself.
I think Jonze made my favorite video of all time with The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs’ “Y Control.” I would pay serious money to see a feature film of just that video and also to make out with Karen O.
