Sean Connery Speed Paint

I put this together rather quickly last night. Even though I have had a lot on my mind lately, I do find that doing a speed paint is welcomed distraction. I have probably just over an hour invested in the piece above. I first did a rough drawing with a blue line pencil, scanned it in and then ‘painted” over it in Photoshop.

I was doing a speed paint at least once a week but unfortunately got out of the habit, but as you can see I’m trying to remedy that. I think I’m just going to draw everyone on my list of people that I can have a “get out of marriage for free card”. Last week was Scarlett (who is of course number 1 on my list) so this week I decided to do number 4 on my list.

Sir Sean Connery.

Now I feel it prudent to stress the fact that I’m not gay. But let’s face it. Sean Connery is the fucking Man. He is the end all be all of cool.

End of story.

So for that reason alone he makes my list as number 4. Be sure to check in next week for another speed paint installment of  “People that I would leave my lovely wife for” or just subscribe to my blog and automatically receive all my blog updates.

SKETCH Magazine tutorial update!

Sometimes things just don’t quite work out the way you had hoped. Such as my first and only skateboarding experience. I was 8 and the cement was hard, end of story. But I digress.

I was scheduled to be included in issue 39 of SKETCH! magazine featuring Adam Hughes. I had done a digital painting tutorial for the magazine in which I took readers through my process with the end result being the Phoenix pictured above. I was pretty psyched about it because not only was I going be in the magazine but Adam freaking Hughes was also in the magazine. Adam’s work has been a big influence and inspiration for me over the years. I love me some Adam Hughes.

But through some horrible twist of fate my tutorial was lost in the shuffle. Bill Nichols the editor of SKETCH! apologized for the mix up and is placing it in an upcoming issue featuring Alex Ross. But I still looked like a moron for telling everyone that I was in the Adam Hughes issue. Oh well.

So now I’m getting all paranoid and shit because I will be doing a painting tutorial in a magazine featuring one of the best painters in the biz. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not. Here I am some self-taught jackass and he is Alex Ross. But either way I am still honored and happy to be in the magazine. Plus I know all my fans (both of you) will be sure to pick up the issue and have it bronzed or something.

I will update you when I know more but for now just sit there and look pretty you sexy beast you
