Marvel 70th Anniversary Set completed!

I will be the first to admit that I am late reporting this but whatever, as my friend Poe would say “Better late than pregnant.” Now onto the news.

As of mid January, I have completed and mailed off 150 sketch cards for the upcoming Marvel 70th anniversary set. As I’ve said before working on the set was a real blast and I look forward to doing more cards in the future. Doing the cards also made me fall even deeper in love with my Copic markers.

I cannot stress enough how much Copic makers rock. You could create a band with Bono, Bowie, Hendrix, Zak Wylde, Jeff Beck, Cliff Burton, Keith Moon, and they wouldn’t rock as much as Copics do. I think mainly because 3 of them are dead so the other members of the band would be really freaked out. I mean Jesus man there would be 3 corpses on stage with them. How fucked up would that be? Sorry what was my point again? Oh yeah Copics rock!

Commission time & other news

Hello, hello, hello all my little sexy subscribers! Oh and for those of you who discovered this post through some serendipitous web surfing I encourage you to subscribe, so that you too can be a sexy subscriber.
Now since that is out of the way, I’ll fill you on everything that has been going on lately.

Although normally for news, I would proudly post a picture of the perfectly pulchritudinous Scarlett Johansson,  I obviously went a different route this time. I actually had a piece of art that isn’t under some sort of NDA so I elected to post it instead. Hey I’m a promotion whore I can’t help myself, besides Scarlett hasn’t been returning my calls lately. Anyway the art above is a wecent we-imagining of the wancid and wemarkably wepulsive Wicked Witch of the West. I don’t know why I was just talking like Elmer Fudd, so don’t bother asking.

The Marvel sketch cards I’ve been doing have been moving along quite well. So for I have done 50 of the 150 that I signed on to do. I know some artists have complained about doing sketch cards but I have really enjoyed this project. But then again I’m not like most artists, mostly due to my dangerously alluring sea green eyes of mystery and desire.

Remember when I was telling you guys about being offered a teaching position at the Charlotte Art League? No? Come on! Seriously you don’t remember that? Ok ok fine. Well to recap I’ve been going to the Charlotte Art League on Saturdays for a figure drawing class. This class led to one of the heads of CAL asking to me if I would be interested in teaching a figure drawing course at CAL. Pretty cool right? Well is just got a little cooler. I have also been asked to do a 2-day workshop in January! I will have more news on what my workshop will focus on later because quite frankly I haven’t planned anything yet since I was asked to do this just 2 days ago. But in the meantime if you are near the Charlotte area and would like to be a part of the workshop please email me and I will keep you updated and registered ASAP. I can guarantee that my class will take a different approach to some old methods and will be fun. And by fun I mean awesome and by awesome I mean…I should stop now shouldn’t I?

Moving on.

Now for my final announcement!

Drum roll please!

Ahem…

Oh forget it.

My final announcement is that I will be doing commissions from now until the December 20th! Be sure to place your orders now so that you will receive your commission before Christmas. All commissions will be inked and colored with Copic markers on 11 x 14 or 11 x 17 Bristol board. Commissions will start at only $40. I’m only taking 10 commissions so be sure to place your order ASAP. If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to email me.

That’s it for now folks. See you on the other side, whatever that means.

Marvel 70th Anniversary sketch cards and other news!

Scarlett Johansson

Greetings everyone and yes you read correctly. I will be doing 150 cards for the upcoming Marvel 70th Anniversary set! Yeah yeah I know I mentioned that in my last post but it’s big news so I’m posting about it again. Hey what can I say I’m humble, modest even.

But wait there’s more.

I also got that gig teaching a figure drawing class at the Charlotte Art League. Yeah I know it’s unbelievable that even after meeting with me they still decided to let me teach. Plus I was originally slated to start in December but now I’m starting this weekend. I’m just going to start with the basics and find out the skill level of the students  but still I have some stuff that I need print out beforehand such as some Andrew Loomis study sheets.

I’m a firm believer in methods  of both Andrew Loomis and George Bridgman. I’m starting with Loomis because his methods are a little easier to follow and less complex. But don’t worry I’ll drop the Bridgman bomb on them when I think they are ready. Although I’m a little nervous about teaching the class I just try and remind myself how awesome I am and that everything will be a-ok. If that doesn’t work then I’ll just drink. A lot.

Let’s see what else? Oh yeah I finally found a writer to get a submission ready for Zuda Comics. I don’t know why I have the sudden urge to draw sequentials because normally sequential work scares me more than Sarah Palin at a rally in Alabama.

I suppose that about does it for this post and I promise, no I swear that I will scan and post some art tomorrow. I’ve been really lazy about scanning lately and for that I apologize. I will also have some finished work to post soon because although every finished piece I have done lately has a NDA attached to it I will have an upcoming Elektra piece that doesn’t so be on the lookout for that Thursday.

In the meantime, enjoy this picture of Scarlett since I have no art to post because I’m a bum who is too lazy to scan it. See you on the otherside…whatever that means.

The Inevitable Alliance

Not bad but I can’t even imagine how long this must have taken, actually I can. A really long time that is what I imagine.
