Ok guys and of course the ladies, rawr, the site seems to be A-OK now. I not really sure why I just said “a-ok”. I mean I don’t even know what A-OK really means much less if it’s better than OK. Hmmph…..
Yeah so anyway the good news is my site is at least functional again! Yay! The bad news is I still don’t know what the hell really happened. Boo! I think it was an exploit in WordPress, which the platform I use for my blog, and the only reason I think that is because that is the most logical thing I found on “the Google.”
But yeah it was a pain the ass, I was even blacklisted on Google. Yeah crazy right? Especially when I had NO IDEA IT HAD HAPPENED! I just happen to catch it on a random search while I was checking my rankings etc. It turns out if your site is hacked (or you just run an evil site) Google will mark the site as a threat. So when you click it in Chrome or Firefox it has a bunch of warnings etc. In other words it will scare the crap out of people and your rankings will go down quicker than a fat girl on on that dude from Twilight.
So after backing up what I could (hoping it wasn’t infected) I deleted my database, installed WordPress again and began reloading data and what not. Oh did I mention this was a pain in the ass? But I’m up and running again and I still have some items to update but the worst is over. I also have some secrity software to install this weekend on my server and considering I have no idea what I’m doing if the site goes down again; you know why.
Oh, I was going to post a picture of a burning computer or something but thats just lame. So when in doubt I say post ScarJo. Enjoy.
