Sci-Fi channel changes name

So the Sci-Fi channel is changing their name to SYFY and here is their bullshit reasoning.

By changing the name to Syfy, which remains phonetically identical, the new brand broadens perceptions and embraces a wider range of current and future imagination-based entertainment beyond just the traditional sci-fi genre, including fantasy, supernatural, paranormal, reality, mystery, action and adventure. It also positions the brand for future growth by creating an ownable trademark that can travel easily with consumers across new media and nonlinear digital platforms, new international channels and extend into new business ventures.

Yeah that makes perfect sense. In case you don’t want to read that babble here is what he basically said.

We want to broaden our audience so we are going to spell our name differently. Oh and the spelling is really stupid but is easier to text. Yeah that’s right it sounds the same, but now it looks different. So well you know, that is uh…cooler. I think.

Wow you’re probably thinking about all the possiblities this channel has to offer now huh? I know my mom will start watching now.

Of course I suppose it was better than the names I would’ve changed it to. What’s that you want to hear mine? Great! Because here is my list.

  2. BOMB (Best Original Movies Bitch!)
  3. Ghost Hunters (Hey I like the show ok)
