Hey did you hear about Michael Jackson?

You know I debated for sometime (like a good 10 minutes) on whether or not I was going to comment on Michael Jackson’s death. I initially decided not to for the simple fact that I didn’t want to give a dancing pedophile freak any more attention. But I just can’t take it anymore. Seeing all these washed up has-beens and opportunist hacks talking to flash in the pan high school gossips like fucking Ryan Seacrest about how seeing Michael Jackson inspired them to greater heights makes me want to fucking puke. Oh golly I just saw a skinny white black man dance. I think I will cure cancer now.
Fuck you.
Oh and if it sounds like I’m angry, it’s because I am. If it sounds like I’m bitter. Uh…it’s because I am. How on earth this fucking weirdo pedophile that sang other people’s songs while he danced to other people’s music and inspired shit like N’SYNC considered to be some sort of a genius? Now that this skinny fuck is dead everyone is talking about how “he inspired me” or “was the greatest entertainer ever” and shouldn’t be judged on the last few years. Again I say fuck you. Using this logic Hitler was a pretty ok guy.
Oh no but Jason you don’t understand he had a hard childhood it wasn’t his fault. Really? Seriously that is the argument you’re going with? Ok first off fuck you you’re an idiot who believes whatever the talking picture box tells you. Second off there were fucking 6 year old Jewish girls starving in Nazi concentration camps, while watching their parents and friends die that when freed by ally forces were basically left to fend for themselves with no money or hope. But they still managed to grow up to be healthy happy adults, who if anything had a stronger character and were wise beyond their years.
But on the other hand we have poor little rich boy Michael Jackson. Whose daddy made him dance for 8+ hours a day and would sometimes hit him with a belt when he missed a step. Let’s see Nazi concentration camp and no money or an overbearing father and millions of dollars and fans? Hmmm…Wow I can see why he freaked out now.
Now I know that Jackson’s childhood wasn’t an ideal situation, but seriously what does it say about Jackson and his ability to cope? Daddy was mean to me so I’m going to “play” with kids and have surgeries to look like Diana Ross. What the fuck? And this is an idol? This is someone to look up to? Seriously?
It kills me how we deify fucking entertainers. I fully admit I have my personal heroes and people that inspire me and these people are not without their own flaws. But you know what? The people on my list aren’t liars who created fantasy worlds to live in with there delusions. The people on my list created things and had their own thoughts instead of being a professional puppet willing to sing and dance on cue.
All I’m saying is anytime you worship a puppet and look to a puppet for inspiration it really doesn’t say a whole hell of a lot about you.
Ok I’ll shut up now I just had to get that off of my chest. The blog will return to regularly scheduled programming later in the day. Oh and if you have any hateful comments or for me or if you want to jump onto my fuck Michael Jackson bandwagon just leave a comment. I would love to read it.

Heroes Con 2009 2 days later

I have a question for you guys. Have you ever been beaten, thrown into the trunk of an old car and left there for 2 days in 100 degree weather before you are able break out and walk 17 miles to safety?
Really? Cool. Because now you know how I feel after the Heroes Comic book Convention. For those of you who didn’t know (for shame) I was there this year doing sketches and shamelessly promoting myself. All in all it was a great con but for some reason it really drained me this year. Maybe it was a bad nacho. Who knows right?
But seeing friends such as Henry Eudy, Nate Lovett, Jeremy Dale, Bill Meiggs made up for it. I was kind of pissed that I missed Loston Wallace because Loston has really helped me develop as an artist plus Loston is a true class act. Unlike the other guys I mentioned. I kid I kid. Loston is just as bad as those guys.
I also was able to hang around with Brian Stelfreeze for quite sometime and pick his brain about color theory and painting techniques. In case you don’t know (again for shame) Stelfreeze is a registered artistic badass and the best damn teacher I have ever seen. So expect to see a lot of traditional work from me in the next few weeks as I begin applying these techniques.
So I guess that about does it for this post. I will think of something more interesting to talk about tomorrow. Oh and if I don’t then I will post some more inane banter like this. Do have a deal? Awesome.

You can decide the name of my Sketchbook!
Hello everyone. How are you doing today? Sure ok that’s great now enough about you. Let’s talk about me now. After this entire journal is about me right? Exactly.
As most of you know (or should know) the Heroes con is this weekend and although I almost everything ready to go, I still need to name my sketchbook! That is why I turned to my fans (both of you) for ideas. I posted both here and on my deviantart that anyone who could think of an awesome name would receive a sketch from me either at the con or through the mail. You can only imagine the huge response I received (seriously you can only imagine it) but I did receive a couple of awesome ideas.
Now since I still have a few things to finish up before the con I don’t have time to decide so I want you (yes you) to let me know what name best fits my sketchbook. All you need to do is simply comment here or on my deviantart for the name that you like best. That’s it!
I would really appreciate it. Again just let me know which of the following names suits my sketchbook. Thanks.
- Hot Copic
Bitches ‘n Robots (but mostly bitches)
Babes, Bots & Beasts
McDoodles
Thanks everyone.

10 Tips to get a Fantasy Art Gig #4

Hello hello everyone. I must confess I am up to my eyeballs (and I’m really tall mind you) with things I have to do for the upcoming Heroes con. That being said the tip for this week will be short and sweet.
Tip #4 Do a piece for a charity auction
Yeah yeah I know you are probably thinking how on earth can this help me land a freelance gig? The answer is quite simple actually, exposure. For example I had recently done a piece for a charity card auction that has ended up leading to two people contacting me for work.
I had seen the ad on craigslist and decided to send my stuff in just to see what would happen. I was accepted to be a part of the project, turned in my donation piece and over the course of the next 3 weeks I received two commission requests and a fan mail. Overall a pretty cool experience and yet another reason why you should consider doing a couple free gigs just so you can start getting you name out there.
Join me next time as I will have something clever to say (hopefully) along with the final 3 tips of top ten ways to lands a freelance art gig.
