Sometimes you can go back

I had my Itunes playing last night while working on an illustration project when the Bangles cover of “Hazy Shade of Winter” started playing. Yeah yeah laugh it up if you want but I like the Bangles. Oh and before you go casting stones at least I can say I still like my bands from the 80’s such as the Bangles, REM, U2 etc. Even when I was 12 I had enough sense to know that MC Hammer sucked. But I digress.

I will admit though my main reason for liking the Bangles was Susanna Hoffs. Susanna was awesome not only was she beautiful but she had has a kickass voice. Her voice reminds me of Stevie Nicks, but with Susanna you don’t have deal with all the drugs, obesity, co-dependence, and whoring around that comes with Stevie Nicks.

Also for those of you who don’t know Susanna Hoffs was the first woman I ever fell madly in love with. Sadly our ages and distance pulled us apart. You see I was 12 living with my parents in North Carolina and she was 28 living in California; the star of a successful band. While she was touring the country I was at home lying on my bed drawing pictures of her and I holding hands beside a rainbow. In the end I think it was the lack of communication that ultimately destroyed the relationship.

So when I heard that song a flood of memories were unleashed. I then decided to look up Susanna and see what she has been up to and what she looks like now. Good lord! What the hell?! Has she aged at all? Does time not affect her? Now I don’t want to say Susanna Hoffs isn’t human but clearly Susanna Hoffs isn’t human! She is 49! In woman years that’s like…hold on one second…yeah that’s like 261 in man years!

Overall it’s just nice to know that sometimes you go back and that sometimes things are just as good as you remember. Unlike say the Thundercats.

Anyway, obviously things have been going ok for her and she collaborated with Matthew Sweet on a cover album called Sid and Susie. This is super cool in my book because I also really dig Matthew but damn looks like Matt has kind of…well…gotten bigger? Anyway I like Matthew too much to say anything mean so I will leave it at that.

Good God

Yeah I haven’t played tetris in while so I thought I would tape myself to see if I’m still as fast as I used to be. You’re not buying that huh? Ok fair enough. I came across this video of a ‘man’ who according the title is the fastest Tertis player in the world. I still question whether or not it is a man or just a freakin’ robot with human hands. Notice how they never show any other part of the ‘person’ playing the game. Huh?….huh? Gotcha thinking now, don’t I?

Thanks Warner Bros

In case you didn’t know Spike Jonze is currently making trying to make a film adaptation of “Where the Wild Things Are.” For those who don’t know about the film sorry should have told you sooner. For those who don’t know about the book…for shame.

So anyway apparently when word reached ‘the suits’ over at Warner Bros. that a free-thinking creative individual was in the process of making a unique film with a quirky charm based off of book with the same appeal they weren’t too pleased.

Yet I’m hearing that just such a massive reshoot is what is on the table right now. And it’s not because of technical issues, unless you want to consider the lead kid actor and the script technical issues. Sources tell me that the suits at Legendary and Warner Bros are not happy with Max Records, the actor playing Max, the mischievous boy who is crowned King of the Wild Things. Worse than that, they don’t like the film’s tone and want to go back to the script drawing board, possibly losing the Spike Jonze/Dave Eggers script when they do it. Apparently the film is too weird and ‘too scary,’ and the character of Max is being seen as not likable

Read the whole story at CHUD

Why? I mean really, why? Are studios afraid to let an audience think and be capivated by a film? Or is it that audiences don’t want to have a connection to a film and the studios know this?

Fuck it. I give up. I hope they just fire Jonze; scrap whatever he had put together, then hire some jackass like Bay or Ratner. Then they can cast Will Smith’s kid, Janna, Jammin, Jada, Jaydun, or whatever-hell that kid’s name is, and have him deliver lines like “What’s your name? Harry” Hahahaha I can’t wait.

Projects and gettin' my butt in gear

Sorry I haven’t really had a chance to post that much in the last few days because I am currently working on a RPG project. I am bringing to life five demon concepts for a RPG company. I’m also maybe doing some landscape and environments for the same RPG. Point is they will be published which means my ass will be published so all in all pretty cool. I will post the designs later.

DOH!

Ok everyone I just found out last night that people have been unable to leave comments. I apologize for the inconvenience and the problem has now been corrected. So now everyone can tell me what a profound impact I have had on their lives and how they wouldn’t be able to live without the wisdom I give on a weekly basis.
