Goodbye 2009! 2010 Here I come!
This is my final post of 2009. Weird. 2009 was kind of a fucked up year in many ways for me. I will spare you all the gory details but I will share a few “standout moments” in bullet format.
- Mom diagnosed with Cancer
- Mom survives Cancer
- Landed a teaching gig at the Charlotte Art League
- Landed a gig doing sketchcards for Marvel
- Setup a music studio for my lovely wife
- Wrecked on the freeway and was unharmed
- Evaded police yet again….ahem… I mean “had fun”
- Still unable to convice Scarlett Johansson that she loves me
I was going to do a best of 2009 list but fuck that, everyone and their mother is doing one of those so I’m sure you don’t need another from me. So instead I present my open letter to 2009 and 2010. Enjoy.
So 2009…you were bittersweet but mostly bitter because things didn’t quite work out the way we had orginally planned. Now I’ll admit some of it was my fault and some were simply circumstances beyond our control. But in the end I still blame you 2009. I know it’s not fair but it’s all part of being a year. You know? I mean you have to take the good with the bad and remember, its not personal, but it’s still your fault.
Anyway, 2009 I apologize if I come across as being harsh considering that I’m telling you this on your death bed and all but I just had to get this off my chest. I hope you understand.
Now 2010 I have to warn you; I have pretty high expectations. But I feel that you and I can work together and with just a little luck you could be the best year yet. Oh and before I forget I do have a couple of other things to ask of you. First, could you also be a good year for all my friends, fans and stalkers? And finally could you really suck a big one for everyone I don’t like?
Thanks 2010 now lets make this happen!
Seriously folks lets have a great 2010 and I will see you on the otherside…whatever that means.

Sketches and Rambling Enjoy Kids
Hello everyone. My wife and I have been passing a cold back and forth for the last couple days and today is the worse that I have felt so far. So if this post doesn’t make a whole lot of sense I’m totally blaming it on the cough syrup.
Moving on.
As I mentioned before I’m doing a sketch cards for the upcoming Marvel 70th anniversary set and it has been really fun so far. I agreed to do 150 for my first time and so far I have knocked out about 18. Keep in mind I received the cards 5 days ago and I’ve been under the weather. Once I feel 100% I’m sure I’ll be doing around 5 – 8 cards a night. I hope. Oh and since I can’t show any of the cards yet enjoy the warm up doodle/sketch I did last night before getting to the sketch cards. And yes I know Batman isn’t a Marvel character, whenever I do warmups I just do whatever comes to mind.
I’m also doing a tryout for Topps for an upcoming Star Wars set as well as a potential project. This is what I’m really nervous about so everyone wish me luck on this one. And by “wish me luck” I mean send me money, or a copic marker. Hey I’m just sayin’ I mean the holidays are coming up and it’s time you start shopping for the one you love (i.e. me).
Anyway the nyquil is starting to talk to me now. Yes…yes I can see it now. A huge fluffy bed is floating by with little blue birds pulling back the covers as the sun fades behind the clouds winking at me. Ahhhhh….bed time.

Overdue blog post time
Remember when I said I would be back on a regular schedule and things would be back to normal around here very very soon? Of course you don’t! Because its been so long since my last post! I swear people I don’t know how much more crap is going to fall into my life but if it doesn’t let up soon then…I’ll…uh…aw hell I had something clever to say. I think. Maybe. Oh screw it onto the updates.
Ok so my mom was released from the hospital yesterday. The surgery was a success and they are still deciding on how much chemotherapy will be needed if any. For those of you just now finding out about this my mom had colon cancer and the tumor was the size of an orange. Fun. But as I said the doctors are expecting a full recovery, which is of course great news. Needless to say that was taking a ton of my time and stressing me out but at least things are working out and are now starting to look up.
So that is the big issue that has been going on in my personal life, but don’t think I haven’t been drawing during this time. I will be the first to admit I haven’t done anything of any major significance but I have been filling up sketchbook pages like crazy and..uh…wait. Did I just say “like crazy“? WTF? Here I am Mr. Artsy Fartsy and the best simile I can come up with for a prolific surge of creativity during an emotive exploration of a tumultuous time in my life through my mind’s eye is… “like crazy.” Nice. Really nice.
Anyway I have a bunch of sketchbook pages that I will be posting over the next few days. I just have to take the time to scan them. I hope all of you (yes all 8 of you) will enjoy them because I have been playing around with a new approach to drawing and sketching. I have really been trying to slow down and take my time trying to capture each subtle nuance with a single flowing line.
Oh did I mention that a lot of the sketchbook pages will have boobs and robots? I didn’t? Well then I should mention that a lot of my new sketchbook pages will have boobs and robots. I just wanted make sure you were still with me and I wasn’t boring you with all this artistic expression crap. Don’t get me wrong I love the beauty of a clean illustration and I could go on and on about it. But boobs and robots is why you’re here and I aim to please.
I will be posting that as well as a couple of other surprises over the next couple days so be sure to check back in with me or better yet just subscribe to this blog. You will find that this blog will not only bring joy to your life but it will also bring joy to those around you.
Now to follow the tradition of this blog whenever I don’t have any art to post I post a picture of my super #1 crush Scarlett Johansson.
See you on the other side whatever that means.

I’m still alive! And still sexy as ever!
I know. I know. It has been a while since my last post. I haven’t been updating the old blog like I should be. In the good ol’ days I was posting 5-8 times a week. Now its just a kiss and a promise every couple weeks.
But the good news is I wasn’t just blowing everyone off (mind out of gutter you perv) for no good reason, because I have had a lot of bad news lately.
Wait.
Ok let’s try that again. What I mean is that over the last month everything that could go wrong pretty much has. Let me just lay it all out for everyone–in bullet format no less.
- I spun out on interstate, hit a concrete wall and did a 360 back into traffic as a car barely misses the truck. Ironically this was in the vehicle I am currently looking to trade.
- Website was hacked and I have just now gotten things “back in order”
- I had my second real virus, which I was unable to stop thus my PC was ass raped. I had to format and reinstall everything.
- And finally my mom has been diagnosed with cancer.
Now before we start having a pity party things are starting to look up. For example after my wreck I decided what better time to buy a lottery ticket. So I bought two of the cheap scratch off tickets and whadda ya know? I won. Twenty bucks. Yeah I know right? Twenty dollars! Well minus the three I spent to buy the tickets and then the what $500 to $600 to repair my truck.
Yeah…20 bucks…pretty lucky. Huh…
All joking aside, I actually was pretty lucky because
- I wasn’t hurt
- My friend that was with me at the time wasn’t hurt
- Only my vehicle was involved
- Only the bumper was damaged
- Oh did I mention that I wasn’t hurt?
So yeah all in all I was pretty lucky.
But obviously the biggest blow was finding out my Mom has cancer. However, showing that luck my be hereditary the doctor is very confident that she will be ok after a surgery and mild chemotherapy treatments. Her spirits are good and so is everyone else’s so there is no real reason to start getting all emotional and depressed. Although I must confess it did hit me pretty hard for a week or so.
You may not think that inside this chiseled body of stone and abs of steel beats the warm tender heart of a benevolent soul but there is. There is. But don’t be fooled because that heart is not only protected by a god-like body, but also by my cunning and fists of justice.
Hey I’m just sayin’.
But anyway again things are looking up, mom is doing ok, I have the website and PC back in order and next week I will be annoucing the first official headstatic.com contest! Be sure to wake the kids and call the neighbors because this could be the most important contest the world has ever known.
In the meantime (as with all site news) enjoy picture above of my super secret girlfriend Scarlett Johansson. Hey, that restraining order can’t stop me from posting pictures.
Can it?

Snow White Queen
It was announced today that Disney bought Marvel. Here is my two cents for a character crossover. White Queen + Snow White = Bad Fanboy idea.
